The Benedum Center

The Benedum Center for the Performing Arts (formerly the Stanley Theatre) is a theater and concert hall located at 719 Liberty Avenue in the Cultural District of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Designed by Philadelphia architectural firm Hoffman-Henon, it was built in 1928 as The Stanley Theatre. The former movie palace was renovated and reopened as The Benedum Center for the Performing Arts in 1987. The Benedum Center for the Performing Arts, a Pittsburgh Cultural Trust theater, is a focal point of Pittsburgh’s Cultural District. The 2,800-seat theater is home to Pittsburgh Cultural Trust presentations including PNC Broadway Across America, Pittsburgh Dance Council, CD Live, Pittsburgh International Children’s Theater, Cohen & Grigsby Trust Presents, and First Night Pittsburgh. The Trust also provides priority programming dates on the Benedum stage to Cultural District resident companies including Pittsburgh CLO, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, and the Pittsburgh Opera.
